In 1975, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (HSA-UWC), sent three Unification Movement Missionaries from three different countries, namely Japan , America and Germany, to the Philippines and other nations worldwide. Their vision and mission are so simple as unifying the religions and reach the will of God to man.

As the missionaries have laid their foundation, the name of the association was changed as the prime focus of their mission was to reach the families and youth for peace and harmony. Hence, the name Family Federation for World Peace and Unification was used for family members, while the World Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles for the students and youth. Aside from, there were affiliate organizations from the various sectors connected to the movement.

The umbrella movement, Unification Movement becomes more popular as it was a shorter name used by the affiliates. For teachers, there is the PTARP, for ladies and womens group there in the Womens Federation for World Peace; for martial arts, there is the Tong Il Moo Do Martial Arts Federation, and others.

The worldwide UM Family is lead by the founder and True Parents, Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon.

The UM-Asian Continent Cluster is headed by Dr. and Mrs. Byung Woo Kim.

The UM Phil is headed by Dr. and Mrs. Michael G. Zablan.

Gen. Florencio F. Magsino is the Chairman of National Steering Committee of UM Phil

The pioneering members and elders were then sent to the provinces in order to establish provincial centers nationwide from the heart of Manila to Baguio, to Bacolod, Cebu and to Davao from late 1970's to early 80's. They started from the north going south and farther until the HSA-UWC was established with a number of local centers nationwide.

A decade after, the name HSA-UWC was changed into The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. This took place after the founder and leader of the FFWPU, Rev. & Mrs. Moon established a worldwide foundation of Blessed Families beginning from 12 Couples to more than 400,000,000 couples. These Blessed Couples were members who joined the Holy Blessing Ceremony conducted by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Mrs. Hak Ja Han-Moon since 1962. Our primary goal is to build ideal families centering on God and True Parents of all mankind in order to establish the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.
