With both teams having 13-5 records. It was the San Miguel Beermen who dominated the game last night against sister team Ginebra San Miguel. It’s now 1-0 in the Final Series of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
The Beermen played without big man Danny Ildefonso. But, Dorian Pena, who had 18 points and 12 rebounds, took the boards unto his hands. While Siegel, was unstoppable in his offensive section. Olsen Racela, the key play maker of San Miguel was replaced by rookie Tenorio at the starting lineup. This was a strategy of San Miguel which later on proved to be successful. Tenorio gave San Miguel Beermen their first 2 points of the night. Of course, Hontiveros was also hot with his drives and shooting from outside the rainbow area. But the hero of the game was sharp shooter Lordy Tugade who had 27 pts, 10 reb, with 8/8 FT. Meanwhile, point guard Helterbrand of Ginebra San Miguel was off last night. He sets up the pace of the game for Ginebra, which is known for their running game even with their big men on the court. Johnny A. on his 19th finals appearance, was there to give Helterbrand the needed support. Also, Caguioa and Hatfield had huge combined efforts. However, not huge enough to even create a single lead in the game.
