I got the inspiration of starting this thread from "Pinoy sa Thailand: Ano ba ang dapat mong baguhin?".

We would like to know how you think of Pinoy DH. Dapat ba silang ipagmalaki o ikahiya? Huh? Huh? Cry Grin

I can't see any reason na dapat ikahiya ang mga DH anywhere in the world. Bb. Pilipinas International 2005 (correct me if i'm wrong) once said in front of million of tv viewers around the world when she was asked about this "Nanny Issue"...she gave the best answer no one could ever think, and that was the Winning Answer.

Here’s Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman’s winning answer.

Question: “What do you say to the people of the world who have typecast Filipinos as nannies?”

Answer: “I take no offence on being typecast as a nanny. But I do take offence that the educated people of the world have somehow denigrated the true sense and meaning of what a nanny is. Let me tell you what she is. She is someone who gives more than she takes. She is someone you trust to look after the very people most precious to you – your child, the elderly, yourself. She is the one who has made a living out of caring and loving other people. So to those who have typecasted us as nannies, thank you. It is a testament to the loving and caring culture of the Filipino people. And for that, I am forever proud and grateful of my roots and culture.”

Korek po kayo dyan...

Being a nanny or DH is really a tough job compare sa nag oopcna o nakaupo lang ng maghapon just signing papers or makipag deal sa client... AKo  nga diyan kapag may extra time pa ako kumukuha ako ng part time job Nanny or DH at least extra income tska I love kids..u know...

Grin

  NO. No. and....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! in the first place , the topic is irrelevant. , or dapat bang ikahiya ang pagiging TEACHER?  or NURSE, or Lawyer or karpintero, waiter, etc...?Let us learn to be  morally philosophical and pragmatic at the same time when presenting an issue. If your intention is to sollicit reactions why some Filipinos would rather opt to work as a DH in foreign countries than stay home and practice their professions, then you could have asked: Bakit may mga Pilipinong isinasakripisyo ang kanilang white collar profession sa pagiging DH?..From the hierachy of professions, DH falls somewhere in the bottom because you need not be a degree holder to become one. BUT let me remind you that albeit it's there in the bottom, it does not mean IT isn't NOBLE. DH like all other professions is NOBLE and labelling a noble profession with negative connotations is abject and dismal to humanity.
Thank you for starting a topic> we are all entitled to our own opinions anyway...PEACE!!!!

Sorry if this may have offended you but that is not the reason that the topics was started.

First of all if you follow the link that was posted earlier maybe that would help you understand where it's coming from.

And just to be clear, I have nothing against people who are working as one. Also, I am not soliciting answers kung bakit iniwan ng mga kababayan natin ang mga profession nila just to work as one.

I believe diyan tayo may common interest. At kung ok lang po sa inyo, we'd like to invite you to start threads na makakatulong po sa lahat.

preng j;

nice to be back sa forum.nice to see u siampinoyers .

simple lang naman ang sagot sa question mo pare;dapat ba natin ikahiya ang pinoy DH.answer is NO.

if u guys are reading between the line"dapat ba NATIN ikahiya ang mga pinoy dh" it means kaya lang sila kahiya hiya is because ikinahihiya natin sila.magulo ano?pero true.lets say for example in HK maraming dh i was there one time and may kasabay akong mga tourist from pinas one girl saw a group of pinoys in d park laughing;playing and telling stories to each other in a loud way.so the tourist girl blurted"nakakahiya naman mga pinoy na yun ang iingay" so i asked her bakit sila kakahiya dahil ba sa kaingayan nila;is it the way they dress;speak;eat;laugh etc.? they're just trying to enjoy life that's all there is too it.so kung nakakahiya ang mag enjoy  di nakakhiya tayong lahat. ang nakakahiya sa tingin ko eh yun judgement mo na nakakahiya sila when the truth of the matter is ikaw ang nakakahiya kase di mo na aapreciate ang kasiyahan nila.and that shut her mouth.......

I think the main reason this topic was started is because there are filipinoes who really are ashame admitting that other pinoys are working as DH.

The topic is not about the nature of work but the ones ATTITUDES or REACTIONS knowing that filipinoes works as DH.

I think, it's also about understanding the value of something or somebody.

Parehong brand, presyo, tsaka style.

pareng j mahirap i trace kung magkano ang remmitance ng isang DH kase di naman sila naglalagay ng job description everytime papadala sila...eto na lang para sa general info OFW REMITTANCES;

remittances of overseas filipino workers(ofw's) coursed thru banks reach a new record high of $7billion in the first half of 2007,up 18.1% from a year ago.
