Eto na po ang Filipino foods in BKK and Chiang Mai.

Dito sa CNX meron pong "Mabuhay" restaurant owned and operated by a Filipina named Annie, who's married to a Thai guy. Except for the faux teak wood facade and a few local knick knacks, Pinoy na Pinoy ang dating nga resto; from the table layout, to the red color checked tablecloths to the sound system in the corner playing Beatles and more modern pop music [pati Britney Spears pre-drug rehab days]. The only other place I know that plays western type music is Burger King down in Night Bazaar on Changklan Road.

I brought a Canadian friend with me because I dared her to eat Filipino food. The first thing I ordered was, of course, Chicken Adobo with steamed jasmine rice, then sinigang na hipon, at kalahating crispy pata [special order po ito, not a regular menu item]. Sus ginoo, miss ko na ang mga ito? Tapos tubig lang ang pangtulak para malasahan lahat. For my friend, a vegetarian [bakit ba napakariming vegetarian dito sa Chiang Mai?], I asked Ate Annie if there was anything for her special needs. She suggested vegetarian pancit, kaya daw niya i-prepare na veggies lang. [Hmmm, where's the fun in that?].

Just to spice things up, biniro ko yung friend ko na it's a sign of respect to eat balut the first time you eat at a Filipino resto. Deer in the headlights look and I thought she would have a heart attack! hehehe, bad ako I know. So binawi ko, kwento nalang me how it's eaten.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow
