This film documents or chronicles Al Gore's dedication to spread a warning to all in the world about the looming danger of global warming.

A word of caution: this movie is not for those lovers of fast-paced, action-filled films the likes of The Bourne series or Bad Boys. This movie is for those who wish to understand why global warming ought to be put on every government's highest priority, and why every single human being on earth should care deeply about this issue.

The movie shows the lighter side of Al Gore. The audience will hear him introduce himself as someone who "...used to be the next president of America."  At the same time, it will also give the audience a deeper understanding of the reasons why he feels strongly about this issue, and why he spends time going all over the globe to spread the truth behind global warming.

As responsible and caring global citizens, we should each promote the viewing of this movie by everyone we know. Turning away an indifferent eye to this film and its message could have fatal consequences to us humans, to the earth we live in, and to all that we hold dear.

Rusell Crowe and Al Pacino at their best!

The story is based on true accounts of a fight between a highly placed ex-tobacco company scientist (Rusell Crowe) and the multi-billion dollar company he used to work for, that is willing and capable to twist every finger to stop the scientist's testimony from being aired on national tv.

Pacino plays the uncompromising journalist, producer of the most respected, highest rated tv news program, who encourages, supports and guides Crowe along the way.

In the film, Crowe risks it all - job, career, family, life. All for the purpose of giving information to the public. The information? That tobacco companies hide the fact that nicotine is in fact a drug, and that it causes cancer, and that every damn CEO of tobacco companies in America swore under oath they don't know that nicotine causes damage to its users.

For audiences who loved Crowe in Gladiator, he will not entertain you the same way in this film. This is a story of an ordinary man faced with moral decisions, put under severe stress because he wants to do right for his children and for the public.

This film also shows how people can be manipulated and driven to action by money, and on the opposite side of the coin, how some people could heroically cling on to the truth, even when it meant standing alone against all odds.

The Day the Earth Stood Steal is the worst movie I've ever seen this year.

Agree...The story is very predictable.

Highly recommend "Taken" = with Liam Neeson. Liked the adrenalin rush, perhaps having a daughter was the reason. One of the great films of Mr. Neeson besides Schindlers List and Rob Roy.   Forum Rocks

Very light but full of meaning, on 2 aspects:

A. For wives and mothers who have forgotten what mothering is all about, and that being a "good wife" doesn't mean turning a blind eye to your husband's infidelities just because he's the paying for your Louis Vuitton bags.

B. For nannies who work abroad out there, especially Pinoy ones -  this film is a testament to the sacrifices you make for your own families back in the Philippines, and the important role you play in the lives of the children you care for.

Laura Linney plays a very believable control freak of a wife and mother, and Scarlet Johansen (sorry if i make a spelling mistake here) plays a loveable 'nanny'.
