Bakit ba ganyan?

most Filipinos i met here in thailand are wonderful people as far as i know about their public life. They work very hard and earned the respect of their peers. in their private life, deskarte na nila yon. siguro yong iba na illegal recruiter, holdupper and swindler for sure ganon na sila dati sa ating bansa, so when dumating sila sa thailand they didn't suspend but just continued to ply their illegal trade, maybe it's what they do best. i guess iba yong standards nila. but for the rest of us, for as long as your not abusing/violating/destroying others and yourself, goodluck to you! mythoughts. peace pinoy! tama ba pinagsasabi ko? suspended animation ka ba? oo ikaw. sino pa ba?

That is true Pareng Isda. As for those abusing/violating/destroying others and themselves, perhaps may galit lang sila sa mundo kaya ganyan sila. But you are right may ibatibang standards tayo. But ang tanong ngayon diyan is, paano pag ang kaibigan mo e gumagawa ng mga hindi kaaya-ayang bagay pagsasabihan mo ba siya? Paano?

Good posts and question ya all!
Of course it involves the difference in faiths.
I'll give examples of real testimonies from real people. But then again, like Fish said, it's their private life so kung ayaw makinig, wag pilitin.

Totoo but kung ayaw talagang makinig let it be SS.

It might be that their intention is to help their friends and family to be able to stand on their own economically. However, ok lang ito sa tingin ko kung ang ipinasok nila is also capable of delivering what is expected of them in terms of their job descriptions. Otherwise, sayang ang slot.

My friend was interviewed by a Filipina for a position she applied for.
To her horror, our kababayan asked for 10,000 para daw i-hire siya.Nilayasan niya agad yung baboy.

What?!!!

Ginagawa ba nila ito dito sa Thailand kasi mas menos ang sosyal pressure? unapplicable morality, baka kaya? if they do good, nobody cares. if they do bad, probably they can get away from it. so what's the difference. maybe the said morality is uncontemporary, not suited, deprive of an environment that stimulates shame of the conscience in times of sin. unconventional perhaps. whatever it is maybe somebody deserves a kick on the ash. mythoughts. peace kick.

Is morality relative or absolute? If we say morality is relative, then there is no need to continue the discussion, if we say morality is absolute, where are we going to base/standardize our morality?

Ang tawag dyan ay APATHY. Siguro these are the signs of the times. Nobody cares about people anymore. Why is this happening? Is it because our population has gotten so big and we no longer know our neighbors? When we were kids, we would regularly go to our Protestant neighbors home (taboo yan nuon) to watch Felix the Cat (Oppps - bistado ang edad). It was the only TV that was accessible to us kids. We played with kids our age. We would walk downtown and bump into people that we knew. But now Davao is so big the chances of this happening is remote. Walang pakialaman. Bahala ka dyan... do we have a sick society? unapplicable morality, baka kaya? if they do good, nobody cares. if they do bad, probably they can get away from it. so what's the difference. maybe the said morality is uncontemporary, not suited, deprive of an environment that stimulates shame of the conscience in times of sin. unconventional perhaps. whatever it is maybe somebody deserves a kick on the ash. mythoughts. peace kick.

@ Ikaro - We can base on the law and the moral standards (as accepted in the majority of a society/community) set in existence in this world. Of course, these can differ in country, race, and religion. For me it's still the bible. Like an Indian national who stems from the Shiek faith. Police in Thailand will not fine them for not wearing a crash helmet while riding a motorbike because of religion and it has been accepted in Thai society. @ Ms Demi - sad to say, yes. But being sick does not mean it can't be healed. When I was in Bangkok a year ago in 1 big shopping mall, they had a big screen that shows ads and music videos. At lunch time, the video changed to a xxx film with real up-close shots!!! I watched it (of course ) but then I looked at all areas and there were kids, families together but no bothered to leave or call someone. Everyone watched! Until I could not take it anymore (the anger of course ) and left the bullding.

Ibabase mo yan sa concept mo of RIGHT and WRONG. It is wrong to commit adultery. It is wrong to murder, steal, and deceive people. There are some instances when you get into grey areas - when they say that you may be "technically" right - but "morally wrong". Some people get are able to see the difference - like the player that was asked to take the free throw. Others like the opposing basketball coach - do not. see the story below.. http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2009/02/playing_fair_with_fouls_sign_o.html Playing fair with fouls sign of respect in high school basketball game by Tom Rademacher | The Grand Rapids Press Sunday February 22, 2009, 7:00 AM Our sometimes unraveling world could take a lesson from a high school basketball game played in Wisconsin earlier this month, a contest that wasn't marred by a fight or a protest, but visited by uncommon sportsmanship. Hopefully, it's a story none of us will soon forget. It's a story that pivots around how players from DeKalb, Ill., High School reacted to news that they had been awarded two free throws on account of a technical foul called on the opposing team. Incredibly, the player for DeKalb walked somberly to the free throw line, and in essence refused to shoot the baskets. Darius McNeal, a 5-11 senior point guard, simply let the ball dribble both times across the end line. (go to link for full story).
