Hi guys,

I'm a new member here and very glad that I found this site because it really helped me a lot in planning my vacation in thailand next week. I will be there on Aug. 25 to 29, 2009 with my sister and mother. I would like to ask you guys to comment on the itinerary that I have prepared:

Day 1 (Aug. 25)
- Arrive in Bangkok at around 11PM. We will stay in Sawasdee Khaosan Inn in Khaosan Road.
- We would like to take a short walk around Khaosan and to to bars before going to sleep.

Day 2 (Aug. 26)
Morning - Visit the Grand Palace, Wat Po, Wat Arun and Pinklao Floating Market
           - How can we go from Wat Arun to Pinklao floating market?Afternoon - Eat lunch and shop at Siam malls (Siam Center, Siam Square, MBK, Siam Paragon and Central World)
              - Stores not to miss include Kinokuniya Bookstore and Greyhound in Siam Paragon and the trendy/ indie
                 boutiques in Siam Center
Night - Dinner either in the malls or in any of the resto in Khaosan
        - depending on the time, we also plan to go to Bed Superclub in Sukhumvit. They say this is like the Embassy
Superclub of Bangkok. Does anyone of you guys been in Bed?

Day 3 (Aug 27)
Morning - Visit Ayutthaya. We plan to avail a package tour to go there. I read somewhere that there are a lot of travel agencies in Khaosan which cater to tours going to Ayutthaya.
Afternoon - no plans yet. Maybe if there are malls that I mentioned above that we fail to visit on Day2, we might do it this time.
Night - Dinner at Si lom Village and go to Suan Lum Night Bazaar (is this still open?)
        - We also plan to go to Route 66 in RCA.

Day 4 (Aug. 28)
This day will be allocated solely for Chatuchak Market. Is this open already during Fridays?Do you think we can still have time to go somewhere else in the afternoon?
Any suggestion on what we can do during the night? Any relaxing place that we can go like massage spa?

Day 5 (Aug. 29)
Breakfast in Khaosan before going to Airport to go back to Manila.

=====================================

Hope you guys can help me. If you have other suggestions, please let me know. Kung gusto nyo din mag-join samin papunta Bed or Route 66, that would be cool!

Hello Marco,

I will also be in BKK next week. I will arrive around August 27 11pm then go to Samran Place. I'll try to do your itinerary as well as I feel this is a very well-planned itinerary.

As regards to your plan visiting Ayutthaya, I have a question to the SP folks. Is eight hours enough for Ayutthaya? Anything remarkable in the place aside from the temples?

I am also planning to attend Sunday Mass (August 30) in the St Francis Xavier church in Samsean. Anyone knows the place?

Anywhere near BKK where we can ride the elephants?
Any suggestions on where to go out at night?

Thanks SiamPinoy for putting up this very informative site. We owe you a lot!

Hi again Marco and to answer some of your questions.

 - How can we go from Wat Arun to Pinklao floating market?
Take a taxi from Grand Palace. Wat Arun is across Chao Praya. Pinklao Floating market is also quite near the Wat Arun Area.

 - Does anyone of you guys been in Bed? Have not been there but heared a lot of fun things about it.

 - Suan Lum Night Bazaar (is this still open?)
Yes, it is still open.

 - We also plan to go to Route 66 in RCA.  I like the place.

- Is this open already during Fridays?Do you think we can still have time to go somewhere else in the afternoon?
Any suggestion on what we can do during the night? Any relaxing place that we can go like massage spa?
There is a Jatujack Mall which is open even during weekdays. So if you wanted to save time and not wait for the weekend shops to open. You can go here. It's located in the same place. During night time you can go to Shamrock Pub and Resto along Khao San, this is if you fancy rock music. Otherwise, you can have a river cruise along Chao Praya river. You can do this at River City Hotel. 1,500 baht per person including buffet dinner.

Hope this helps  Philippines

Hi Panch!

8 hours is more than enough to spend in Ayuthaya. You can definitely ride an elephant there.

Hi Panch,

There is no english mass at St Francis Xavier Church which is located at Soi Mitrakham, between Soi Samsen 11 and Soi Samsen 13. I think you would not like attending mass for one hour said in Thai language.

God bless.
