1. The Grand Palace, otherwise known as Temple of the Emerald Buddha, or in local language, "Wat Phra Kaew". - This is where the royal family used to reside. With your ticket, you can also visit two other places apart from the Emerald Buddha itself. They're all just a short distance from each other.

Any other input from the group, guys?!

DAMNOEN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET. It's about 1 hour and 45 minutes drive from Bangkok and it's very near from my place (15 minutes). How's your plan to visit here in Samutsongkhram. I think Thailand will have a long holiday again sa Mother's day... I will be here guys waiting in vain...bwehehehehheeh Kayop na mag set ng time and I will just see kung vacant ba ako... I am staying in a house inside the school so it's better to be here on weekends or holidays kasi walang pasok. Don't worry guys... Even though I am staying inside the school compound, visitors are highly welcomed here.

SEE YOU!!!

in no particular order:

*ruins of Ayuthayya

*ruins of Sukhothai - the light and sound presentation is spectacular!

*Bridge on the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi - ditto!  it's like being transported back in time

*Wat Doi Suthep, Mae Sa elephant sanctuary and Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai - i just keep on coming back..

*Doi Tung in Chiang Rai - if you're a nature-lover, this is your destination

*Phu Kradueng in Loei province - go up the mountain in the evening and watch the breath-taking view of the sunrise above the clouds!

*the beaches in Krabi

Hi Josephil,
When is Mother's Day in Thailand? What are usually to watch for during this holiday? Any special event or tradition done by Thais? Super sale ba sa mga malls during Mother's Day? Smiley

it is advisable to book a ticket in advance 'coz sometimes seats get filled up because of the group tours. Tickets cost 1,500baht/person. Including dinner, it's 1,960baht. Call 026499222 for reservation. You can also make a reservation at Thai Ticket Major Company, 022623456. Show starts at 8pm daily.

Samphran Elephant Center and Crocodile Farm (02-295-2938 up to 9).

This was featured in the Jessica Soho show (August 2 if I'm not mistaken).

This is about an hour's ride from Bangkok. They open up around 10am.

If you want someplace close, you can go to Samutprakan Crocodile Farm. This is where the world famous crocodile wrestling takes place. You can also buy goods made from crocodile leather from here. It's a good place to take children to, as it also has a zoo, with a good variety of animals to see, from snakes to turtles, to tigers, and of course, crocodiles. They also have an elephant show, but not as elaborate as the one in Samphran.

You can call TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) for loads of info about places to see, things to do in Thailand. the number is 1672 (that's +662 - 1672 if calling from overseas).
