Character is what you do when no one is looking.

« on: October 10, 2007, 03:31:47 AM »

Hi, everyone!

We are presently gathering ideas and views on some topics we could focus on in an ideas exchange
activity in writing for interested SP members. So guys, please answer two questions:

1. Would you be interested to join an ideas exchange activity sometime before the end of this month for a small fee to cover materials expense, snacks, and others?

2. Which topics would you be most interested in and why?

Thanks and will be waiting for your reply.

That's great! The more varied our topics are, the better! That way, we can pick and choose what to focus on each time we have an ideas exchange. Mas maraming topics, meaning, mas marami tayong beses/chances to have the exchange.

My interest is in LITERARY WRITING (more on poetry)
I am a [PULPOL] literary editor in our college publication before and hoping to explore more on poetry. I am glad Darfur has the same interest. Darfur, are you up for a literary criticism workshop?
I am very interested for an "ideas exchange activity" Madam H... Please inform me if SP will conduct such kind of activity for I am not so updated with the posts here right now because I am so busy.

I would like to enhance and develop my interest in writing. I am a frustrated writer. I tried to join in a campus journal when I was in college. But there are many students better than me. I hope I can learn something when it comes to technicalities and composition. Tnx pls count me on...

When I was in college, I worked as a literary editor in our our college publication then a contributor of "The Leader" (a national youth leadership news letter) pero aminin ko po hindi ako magaling sa grammar... Basta ang alam ko lang, gusto ko talagang magsulat. I can edit the work of others pero hindi sa akin... hehehehee

Just do what you love to do without having pessimistic thoughts. Smiley Smiley

To all budding and already-prolific writers here in SP, since uuwi na si Erick sa Chiang Rai sa linggo, pwede kaya tayong mag-ideas exchange over coffee at Starbucks on Saturday evening after 6pm? Everyone must be familiar with Central Chitlom (yes/no/maybe?) Opposite that, there is a road full of restos, bars, and a little walk away from the crossing between this road and Phloechit Road, merong Starbucks sa left side. Pwede ba tayo doon? 'Just thinking of someplace quiet and centrally located for easy access to everyone else interested in coming along.

Evidently, very varied ang mga experiences and interests of everybody. So guys, how's this proposal?

Since Erick is going, can we give the floor to Erick as our main speaker/sharer? Erick, anong topic ba gusto mong i-tackle? I volunteer to moderate the exchange. And then the rest of us guys, we pitch in with our own thoughts/ideas/questions related to Erick's talk.

And since there are some of us who into poetry, and other aspects of writing, perhaps we can break up into small groups so other interest groups will have a chance to share their work with like-minded folks. And of course, form there, we can plan on when the next one will be and on what topic it will be in.

Once Percy is freed from his busy schedule, he is very much willing to lead the exchange on effective writing on the net.

So, Bol-Anon, Darfur, Erick and other SP's, ok ba sa inyo ito? And shall we give this activity a green light for this upcoming Saturday? I mean, bukas na pala... 1AM na kasi... Grin

Saturday after 6 pm....let's make it 7 pm then!

OK.  I would like to share some of my ideas on CAMPUS JOURNALISM.  It won't be a LECTURE type guys, so please join us.  Ideas will focus on:

1. Starting a very "simple" English newsletter in your school
2. Our role as the adviser and editor
3. Starting a nationwide campus journalism club

That's it.  I hope you can join us tomorrow! Smiley

OK Madam H...

I am not so familiar of Central Chitlom. Is it near Chitlom BTS station? I am free tomorrow and on sunday so I will probably be in Bangkok early in the afternoon or late in the morning tomorrow. See you guys...

P.S.
To Darfur: How about the copies of your literary pieces which you have promised? Can I have it during the session? I will surely get more ideas from it. See you Darfur. I hope you will be there...

I've been teaching technical writing, first at AIT in Pathum Thani then in the region for development agencies, government and the private sector. I have a short (25-30 min) presentation called Seven Myths About Writing. People usually feel a lot more relaxed about their writing after they see this presenation. I would be happy to share with it anyone interested.

If you mean the event posted before your previous post, it was a previous event last year in October to be specific.  Is that the one you're talking about?
