To let you know how ACT was organized...

A car accident happened February of this year in which Mrs. Lilia Lagenio Marcelo died of multiple injuries. During her wake, many Filipinos (90% of them are Cordillerans) came to give donations and offered prayers. We realized that there are lots of Cordillerans here in Thailand then came the idea of forming an organization to reach out to fellow Cordillerans in other parts of the country. On March 11, 2007, after sending off the remains of Lilia on board Thai Airways, 27 Cordillerans gathered at Benjasiri Park for a meeting and formed the Association of Cordillerans in Thailand. Members gather every month for meeting and other activities. We just had our 2nd Fun Day at Suan Lot Fai where we met Erick, our latest member.

ACT now has 80 members. With this site, i hope to reach out to other Cordillerans around Thailand.

Hi to all ACT members and officers,

Just wanted you guys to know that if you wish to send out announcements, you are most welcome to use Siam Pinoy to let members know about your activities. If you want, we can even have one page designated as your own ACT page here in Siam Pinoy so it would be so much easier for you guys to connect and get in touch.

Thanks for joining us at SP, and hopefully, more Pinoys form the ACT would join us here in the forum.

Hi, ACT Members!  It's high time we start our own business and realize our dreams.  Well, we can do just that under the "Pangarap ko, Sariling Negosyo" training program.

I'm Mrs. Lolita Guilas, trainor/resource person on entrepreneurship.  I've taught OFWs in Hong Kong livelihood courses such as "How to Start and Manage a Retail Store Profitably," "How to Start Your Own Business," "How to Make a Business Plan," "How to Start a Carinderia," etc.

The "How to Start and Manage a Retail Store Profitably" has always been a top seller among Filipino would-be entrepreneurs as retail businesses now abound worldwide.  Simply put, retailing means buying in volume from a wholesaler and selling these items to the ultimate consumer.  Hence, any business that sells on retail basis is covered -- from ************ stores, groceries, mini marts, department stores, boutiques, etc. There's money in it as the items sold especially in ************ stores/groceries are everyday needs; hence one is ensured repeat business.  Proof is that even multinationals like Makro, S&R Price Membership Club, Watsons, etc. have got branches in the Philippines although our economic status is still that of a developing country.

Am posting this note in the hope that I could find some interested kababayans who would like to attend my entrepreneurship lecture on any livelihood topic (I'd be willing to conduct seminars in case there's at least a minimum of 10 participants per topic/seminar).  I will be in Bangkok from March 14-17, 2008.    I will hold a presentation at the Federation of European Screen Printing Associations (FESPA) meeting on March 14-15 to be held at the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel in Bangkok.  I can devote March 16-17 (saturday and sunday) for the lectures.

If you are interested, you can let me know thru this forum or e-mail me at ltg19ph2002@yahoo.com or text/call me at 0919-4098817.

God Bless!

Mrs. Lolita Guilas
