This marks the start of the day where free agents can start signing contracts with teams.
Here are the first ones who signed: 1. Rashard Lewis - from Seattle Supersonics to Orlando Magic 2. Chauncey Billups - Resigned to Detroit Pistone $ 60 M for 5 years.
The rest would follow...

Kevin Garnet is now a Boston Celtic. Boston gave up 5 players and 2 future draft picks for "The Big Ticket". With the addition of Garnett to the Paul Pierce and the signing of Ray Allen, Boston is now a contender in the Eastern Conference. The problem is, the Celtics are now over the salary cap of the NBa and will have a hard time forming their contender team around their big 3.
There are rumors that they are eyeing Dikembe Mutombo and another point guard.
Price you have to pay to build a team. Will this work? We will find out come November as the 2007-2008 NBA Season kicks off!

This trade makes the Boston Celtics the hottest team in the NBA. They have the most interesting Trio in the league at present. They will be a favorite playoff contender but they still need some support from the bench to make it to the finals.

There are also news that the Boston Celtics are trying to make Reggie Miller come out of retirement to join newly acquired Kevin Garnet and Ray Allen. The question is this, could they afford Miller and also, will Reggie still contribute to the Celts?

I think Reggie Miller despite of his age (42) can still contribute to the Celtics and He can be good backup to Ray Allen. He can still shoot 3s and he's in good shape. It is possible for him to make a comeback because he never won NBA Championship and Boston Celtics is a playoff contender team.

"Pippen says he wants to play for contender"
"Pippen has been working out in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., during the winter, and he thinks the time is right to add his experience and defensive prowess to a contending club, perhaps in Miami or San Antonio. "

NBA Ref linked to points shaving and betting in the league... If you guys are interested how it works, just tell me... FYI lang. Source: Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy plans to plead guilty Wednesday in Brooklyn court By PAT MILTON, Associated Press Writer August 14, 2007 NBA official Tim Donaghy talks with another official during a timeout as the Washington Wizards face the New Jersey Nets in a basketball game in this April 10, 2007 file photo in Washington. The former referee plans to plead guilty in federal court on Wednesday to charges alleging he bet on games he officiated, a person familiar with the betting scandal probe said.. AP - Aug 14, 8:39 pm EDT NEW YORK (AP) -- Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy planned to plead guilty in federal court on Wednesday to charges alleging he wagered on games he officiated, a person familiar with the betting scandal probe said. Donaghy was to surrender at Brooklyn federal court, the person said on condition of anonymity because Donaghy hadn't turned himself in yet. NBA spokesman Tim Frank told the AP the league was informed Tuesday that Donaghy would plead Wednesday but was given no further information. Donaghy's attorney, John Lauro, and federal prosecutors declined to comment. NBA commissioner David Stern said last month the referee's lawyer told the league his client was contemplating a plea. Besides allegedly placing his own wagers, investigators also examined whether Donaghy provided inside information to others, including referees' schedules. The referee had a gambling problem and was approached by low-level mob associates through an acquaintance, a law enforcement official said. The FBI first contacted the NBA on June 20 to talk about a referee alleged to be gambling on games, and the two sides met on June 21, Stern said last month. Donaghy resigned July 9 after 13 years as a referee, though Stern said he would have fired him sooner but was told it might affect the investigation. Stern blamed a "rogue, isolated criminal" for the betting scandal that has devastated the league and threatened the credibility of every referee. Donaghy was rated in the top tier of officials, Stern said, and there was nothing suspicious about the frequency of his foul calls. He was assigned to work in the second round of the playoffs, with his last NBA game coming during the Phoenix-San Antonio Western Conference semifinal. No other NBA officials or players were expected to be involved in the scandal, which Stern called the "most serious situation and worst situation that I have ever experienced either as a fan of the NBA, a lawyer for the NBA or a commissioner of the NBA." Others outside the NBA are expected to be charged.

PBA DRAFT 2007:
The news...
Welcoat taps Devance; Eman to San Miguel
By Musong R. Castillo Inquirer Last updated 03:26am (Mla time) 08/20/2007
MANILA, Philippines -- Welcoat added a cornerstone to its roster Sunday by snagging 6-foot-7 Fil-American center Joe Devance as the first overall pick in the PBA Rookie Draft.
And even if coach Leo Austria described his new acquisition as the “total package,” the former PBA Rookie of the Year said that getting into the playoff in his third tournament would already be an achievement.
“While the other teams are looking at making the Finals every tournament, for us to get into the playoffs is OK,” Austria said. “We felt that he (Devance) is the logical choice, because he is the complete package (among the prospects).
“He can play both ends, and that is very important.”
“I’m just excited to be here and be able to help the team win a championship,” the 25-year-old Devance, a graduate of Criminal Justice studies at the University of Texas in El Paso, said.
That left Samigue Eman as San Miguel’s logical choice and the 6-foot-9 center from Mindanao was picked second overall by the Beermen in the event held before a jampacked crowd at the Market! Market! Mall in Taguig City and backed by Purefoods Tender Juicy, Accel and Goldilocks.
“I really wanted to be drafted by this team, because I was named after it,” said Eman, whose father Fernando worked for San Miguel and named him after the world famous beer. “I’m just so excited.”
Sta. Lucia Realty, as coach Boyet Fernandez had hinted, pulled out the first surprise of the proceedings by selecting California-raised, 24-year-old point guard Ryan Reyes with the No. 3 pick.
“I was just nervous at first,” the 6-foot-1 Reyes said. “After the nervousness went away, I told myself that I’m ready to join the PBA and I think Sta. Lucia is a great fit (for me).”
Former Ateneo de Manila University stalwarts JC Intal and Doug Kramer were chosen fourth and fifth, respectively, by Air21, which also drafted ex-San Beda College gunslinger Yousif Aljamal with the eighth overall choice.
Ken Bono, the former Adamson University Falcon who won the UAAP MVP award last year, was joined by burly JR Quiñahan at Alaska, which picked sixth and seventh.
There were reports of a Nic Belasco for Junjun Cabatu trade being worked out which coach Tim Cone of Alaska refused to comment on.
San Miguel used its second first round selection, its natural choice which was ninth, to enlist former Far Eastern University swingman Jonas Villanueva, though there were rumors Sunday that management had tried to trade away that right.
Macky Escalona, the hard-nosed guard coming out of Ateneo, went to Barangay Ginebra as the 10th overall choice.
Teams now have the next five working days to tender offers or lose their draft choices to unrestricted free agency. Players who get offers but don’t sign with their respective teams will have to seek release from the teams that drafted them.
A total of only 17 players out of the 44 in the pool was selected, with Coca-Cola tapping Ronjay Buenafe 11th overall and Welcoat going for left-handed shooting guard Ryan Arana at No. 12.
Melvin Mamaclay was selected by Sta. Lucia, while former University of the Philippines point guard Marvin Cruz was chosen by Air21 as the 14th pick.
Jojo Duncil, the UAAP Finals MVP for University of Santo Tomas last year who opted to forego his final year with the Growling Tigers, went to Red Bull, which passed on its next selection -- the 17th choice -- after Alaska had drafted Ardy Larong at No. 16.
Talk ‘N Text, which had only one choice the entire afternoon after trading what turned out to be the eighth overall pick to Air21 in the Ren-Ren Ritualo trade two years ago, passed up on its only chance.
The Express rounded out the proceedings by selecting Rolly Masbang with the 20th choice.
