helenavil is right mel
say this to someone and they might get offended.just out of curiousity how many years have u been in thailand?coz the longer the stay the more slang words u learn;
a piece of advice to my co-siampinoyers when learning thai language be sure of it's meaning first before u use it.one thing i found out about most thais is that they're sensitive.they don't take a punch like us pinoys so be very careful,remember your still a foriegner to the land of smile no matter how long u lived there..peace

yes helenevil and ryandbalikbayan, these are bad words and should never be spoken by a true gentleman and a sweet lady. so as what ryan and helen adviced, be careful in your words and be respectful to others and must know what you are talking about when conversing with someone, a friend or foe, thai or filipino. now that you know what the bad words are, you are not excused when you persist in saying. good luck and be good gentlemen and nice ladies. make us proud. p.s. i've been in bkk since 2001.

Mel ja...here you are.
Yes, these are "riap roy" words but im correcting some pronounciations for you. Thais are very tonal..when the tone is wrong, its already a different meaning. Maybe when we see each other I can help you out.
But anyways...Thais are very loving and understanding, especially to foreigners. They will smile back at you and understand that you are trying your best to speak their language..and it's sweet enough.
Now....that's giving justice to the phrase Thailand as 'The Land of Smile" ! CHOK DEE!
to click or fall in love -PING! to look cool or sharp - jaap to have money - mii ga-dtang MII SATANG wonderful - yiam, jeo karma - ween-gam to be down to earth or to be a common man - dtit din to be lucky - heng perfect - niap to be tough and not easily give in - kiao laak din OR JUST SIMPLY KIAO to calm down - saa older sister - jee (THIS IS ACTUALLY CHINESE JAE FOR SISTER AND HIA FOR BROTHER) to borrow money and never return it - chak-daap to work with honesty - dtong-chin one little moment - bpeep PAEP DIAW a very close frien - puan-sii PUEAN SII

DEFENSIVE Khon thii pok pong tua eng talot wela There is no one Thai word to translate this, so the above phrase is use to describe this character type. I wonder what's the Tagolog of "Defensive"?
