BLESS THE DAY - October 29, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word."
                                                                      Isaiah 66:2

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"Sweet Dreams"

I give to you...
          an encouraging nudge,

BLESS THE DAY - October 31, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
                                                                                2 Corinthians 4:18

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"Live Life to the Fullest"

One day I had a date for lunch with friends. Mae, a little old 'blue hair' ,about 80 years old, came along with them---all in all, a pleasant bunch. When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Mae who said, 'Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate. I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. Along with heated apple pie,' Mae added, completely unabashed.

We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time. But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine. I couldn't take my eyes off Mae as her pie a-la-mode went down. The other ladies showed dismay. They ate their lunches silently and frowned.

The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Mae. I lunched on white meat tuna. She ordered a parfait. I smiled. She asked if she amused me. I answered, 'Yes, you do, but also you confuse me. How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible? She laughed and said, with wanton mirth, 'I'm tasting all that is Possible.

I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should. But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good.

This year I realized how old I was. (She grinned) I haven't been this old before. So, before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored.

I haven't smelled all the flowers yet.
There are too many books I haven't read.
There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead.
There are many malls I haven't shopped. I've not laughed at all the jokes.
I've missed a lot of Broadway hits and potato chips and cokes.
I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face.
I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace.
I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast.
I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most.
I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain.
I need to feel wind in my hair. I want to fall in love again.

So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire. I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired.

With that, I called the waitress over.. 'I've changed my mind, ' I said. 'I want what she is having, only add some more whipped cream!'

Live well, love much & laugh often - Be happy.

                                                                              RB Mariposa... Wink Wink

Whoever is happy will make others happy too. He who has courage and faith will never perish in misery.

Acknowledging our gratitude for the blessings in our life releases the happiness that we sometimes keep hidden within our heart. And happiness can be contagious. We all know people who are always bubbly, who always look on the bright side of events, who genuinely inspire happiness in us when we're around them. We, too, can serve as a catalyst for happiness in the lives of others.

Knowing that we're never left alone to solve any problem or handle any situation relieves us of much of the anxiety that crowds out happiness.

Having God as a constant companion, and having faith that we are moving toward the best outcome for the present circumstance, makes happiness a far more frequent visitor in our life.
Happiness becomes habitual when we keep our focus on God as our play's director, the source for all our decisions.

God, help me to share the happiness and the faith I have in You with others today.

BLESS THE DAY - November 02, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation."
                                                                                    Habakkuk 3:18

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"Something To Look Forward To......"

It has been said that we need just three things in life: something to do, someone to love, and something to look forward to.

Thank you for giving me something to look forward to -- spending more time with an amazing friend like you!

I'm so glad that you're a part of my world. You inspire me, make me laugh and think, and I can't imagine my life without you!

BLESS THE DAY - November 04, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"And when we cried unto the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:"
                                                                           Deuteronomy 26:7

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"Saved By Grace"

Some day the silver cord will break,
And I no more as now shall sing;
But oh, the joy when I shall wake
Within the palace of the King!

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story--Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story--Saved by grace.

Some day my earthly house will fall.
I cannot tell how soon 'twill be;
But this I know--my All in All
Has now a place in heaven for me.

BLESS THE DAY - November 05, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him, In love he predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will."
                                                                           Ephesians1:5

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"Special Grocery List"

Louise Redden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries. She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had seven children and they needed food.

John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and requested that she leave his store at once.

Visualizing the family needs, she said: 'Please, sir! I will bring you the money just as soon as I can.'

John told her he could not give her credit, since she did not have a charge account at his store.

Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocer that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her family.

The grocer said in a very reluctant voice, 'Do you have a grocery list?'

Louise replied, 'Yes sir.' 'O.K' he said, 'put your grocery list on the scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will give you that amount in groceries.'

Louise, hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into her purse and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it. She then laid the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her head still bowed.

The eyes of the grocer and the customer showed amazement when the scales went down and stayed down. The grocer, staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and said begrudgingly, 'I can't believe it.'

The customer smiled and the grocer started putting the groceries on the other side of the scales. The scale did not balance so he continued to put more and more groceries on them until the scales would hold no more.

The grocer stood there in utter disgust. Finally, he grabbed the piece of paper from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement.

It was not a grocery list, it was a prayer, which said:

'Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands.'

The grocer gave her the groceries that he had gathered and stood in stunned silence.

Louise thanked him and left the store. The other customer handed a fifty-dollar bill to the grocer and said; 'It was worth every penny of it. Only God Knows how much a prayer weighs.'

THE POWER OF PRAYER:
When you receive this, say a prayer.  That's all you have to do. Just stop right now, and say a prayer of thanks for your own good fortune.
Prayer is one of the best free gifts we  receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. May you always walk with Angels
           God Bless!

BLESS THE DAY - November 08, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God."
                                                                     Ecclesiastes 2:24

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"The Duck & the Devil"

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved!

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing..

After lunch the next day Grandma said, 'Sally, let's wash the dishes' But Sally said, 'Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.' Then she whispered to him, 'Remember the duck?'

          So Johnny did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, 'I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper.'

Sally just smiled and said, 'Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help' She whispered again, 'Remember the duck?' So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, 'Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you.'

Thought for the day and every day thereafter?

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.) ..whatever it is...You need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing.

He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.

The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness; He not only forgives you, but He forgets.

It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved.

Go ahead and make the difference in someone's life today. Share this with a friend and always remember: God is at the window! When Jesus died on the cross; he was thinking of you!

BLESS THE DAY - November 11, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you."
                                                                     Matthew 7:7

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"Throw in a Prayer"

If you're hanging wallpaper, and you're a mess with paper and glue,
Don't forget when you're mixing that paste, to mix in a prayer or two.

And if you're going fishing all day, down by your favorite brook
It never hurts to take a prayer and place it on your hook.

Or if you're going shoping for your family down at the mall,
Remember the best gift you can give is to just say a prayer for them all.

Or if you're checking your e-mail, reading jokes while sipping your tea,
Take a moment out of your busy day and say a prayer for me.

BLESS THE DAY - November 15, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge."
                                                                     2 Corinthians 1:21

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"JUST IN TIME"

EVERYTHING COMES JUST IN TIME
GIVE ONE MINUTE OF ATTENTION TO ST. THERESE

This Saint, who was humble and small, entered the convent while she was still very young, and she died when she was 24 years old. Her only wish was to please God, and she prayed asking that after she died, there will be a rain of roses over the world, in a form of a present to those who pray. St. Therese is very powerful in the world of the spirits, because she sends real roses.

Make a wish before you read this poem:

'That today you find peace inside you,
that you can confide in your highest power
because you are exactly where you are supposed to be,
but do not forget the infinite possibilities
that are born from the faith,
that you may use the gifts that you have received
and transfer the love that has been given to you,
to make you feel satisfied that you are a child of God.
Allow his presence in your bones
and give your soul the liberty to sing,
dance and be warmed by the sun,
that is there for everyone and each one of us.'

BLESS THE DAY - November 18, 2008

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven"

TODAY'S INSPIRATION:

"Don't We All"
author unknown

I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work. Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those "don't want to be bothered times."
"I hope he doesn't ask me for any money," I thought. He didn't. He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop but he didn't look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus.
After a few minutes he spoke. "That's a very pretty car," he said. He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His scraggly blond beard keep more than his face warm.
I said, "thanks," and continued wiping off my car.
He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never
came. As the silence between us widened something inside said, "ask him if he needs any help." I was sure that he would say "yes" but I held true to the inner voice. "Do you need any help?" I asked.
He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and accomplishments.I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me. "Don't we all?" he said.
I was feeling high and mighty, successful and important, above a bum in the street, until those three words hit me like a twelve gauge shotgun.
Don't we all? I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep, but I needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus fare, but enough to get a warm meal and shelter for the day.
Those three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have, no matter how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help. Even if it's just a compliment, you can give that.
You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all. They are waiting on you to give them what they don't have. A different perspective on life, a glimpse at something beautiful, a respite from daily chaos, that only you through a torn world can see.
Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe he was more than that.
Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise, to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves.
Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said, "go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help."

          Don't we all?
