without the language we will not understand each other. it is because of it, why we are here. language is the instrument and should be used wisely. the role-playing of this exchange is the language.

Indeed.  Language is very important in the learning process.  That is why a teacher should possess that ability to speak to deliver his lessons.

without a language we will not survive. we will not understand each other. our society will be in chaos. we form an idea or topic and discuss in a forum.
I would like to recall a story from a Thai writer's point of view why some students could not read: A Grade 4 pupil was evaluated for his reading comprehension skill or proficiency. The evaluator requested the 10-year old boy to read a passage from the book. The boy was very quiet and hid his face. "Why you don't read?", the evaluator asked. "I can't read.", the boy answered. "Why you can't read?", the evaluator inquired. "Because, I am stupid.", the boy answered. "Who told you, you are stupid?", the evaluator asked with pity. "My teacher told me everyday, I am stupid.", the boy confirmed.

This is a wake up call to all Pinoy Teachers and every educator who see the children are our future. This is true and it happened here, it happens everywhere, everyday.

- I guess ALL students will LOVE their teachers in return Grin
- I guess ALL teachers will think of ALL THE GOOD THINGS they can give to the students REGARDLESS of how much they are EARNING from doing it Grin

Never treat your students as your own children. Treat them as a human being.

Always remember that no two students are the same.  Your treatment should not be equal. Your treatment should be based on how they want you to treat them, but not neglecting the others.

Thanks for your question, Miss_D and here is my own answer:

in my own opinion, an efficient teacher facilitates the class and the effective teacher teaches with output. an effective teacher is better than the efficient teacher in some ways and vice versa.

efficient - "a. Acting or producing effectively with a minimum of waste, expense, or unnecessary effort. b. Exhibiting a high ratio of output to input." effective - "1.a. Having an intended or expected effect. b. Producing a strong impression or response; striking: gave an effective performance as Othello. 2. Operative; in effect: The law is effective immediately. 3. Existing in fact; actual: a decline in the effective demand. 4. Prepared for use or action, especially in warfare."

All Pinoy or Non-Pinoy Teachers would agree or not, you must have experienced the same thing to some students at every school about the pronounciation of Thai students. If you teach the young ones, children at the age of 8-11, Grade 2-5, about the way students or pupils count or say the numbers 11-20.

I have noticed the same and repetitive mistakes on saying the following numbers for many years. Some children or even adults would say or pronounce eleven as e-le-phant, fifteen as five-teen, twenty as twelve. There are also a few letters that the Thai students and adults have mixed-up the sound and will confuse and obscure your hearing ability when you hear them say letters such as H, S and X. Of course, you know much better than the students in English. But they are also much better than you in Thai language.

How can you help your students? How can you apply or implement your efficient and effective teaching techniques? Will this be forever the same mistakes?

My Brief Philosophy of Education: Education is a process or system of knowing and discovering. It involves our four skills: listening, speaking, writing and reading. We teach our children, pupils and students to use their IQ or Intelligent Quotient and EQ or Emotional Quotient.

This is one of the Educators' quotes that I really like, "Tell me and I will forget. Teach me and I will learn. Show me and I will remember."

Education or learning is never ending. It is part of life that everybody has in mind. Education of getting a Bachelor's degree, Master or Doctorate is not enough. Education is more than learning at school. Education needs experience.

Even though you are not in education line or field, you may be a baby-sitter sister, you maybe a conductor brother, and may be you are of different profession my friend, you can be an engineer in English that can fix no machine, as long as you can teach and develop your God's given skills.

for me,

Learning is a process of a Lifetime.

am my own teacher and my own student. i teach myself.

i am self-taught.

change is inevitable. change is the only constant in the universe.

if you don't ride with the waves of change you get drowned and die.

learning is the surf-board you use to ride the winds of change.

I STILL BELIEVE THAT (apart from the love of teaching):

A Pinoy teacher of English should know very well his/her English.  IF SOMETHING IS WRONG, POLISH UP.  May it be in domestic or international set-up, Pinoy teachers should show their only advantage to the rest of the third-world and developing countries, the good command of the English language.

It is beneficial to all concerned! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I wrote a request and Master J, the webmaster of siampinoy.com has taken an action to move this forum from General Discussion to Teaching Resources. Congratulations to all, Erick, Blubinginone, and Defect for your suggestion.

After this forum has first started, and when it received series of comments, then I did a series of deletion. Contributors must have observed the number of their postings decreased. The topic title was, "Pinoy Teachers's Interchange", and suggested to rename from Interchange to Exchange. Whatever, but like now, deleting this two pages and start over again for the third time, how would you feel if you were me? I don't have to put much all my heart on it. I want to share a quote:

"What you spend years of building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway." by kent m. keith

I keep on thinking to stir up your and my mind to make teachers, thinkers or debaters use their skills. I am telling you people, you can do nothing if you don't have fingers.

What are your favorite words? These words are your ideals. The words you use is your language, you communicate with people by the words and language you use. The words and language you use represent who you are.

Lastnight, I have come up into two words that caught my attention while reading a webpage article and these words become my favorite words for now.

a·pol·o·gist n. "A person who argues in defense or justification of something, such as a doctrine, policy, or institution. a person who offers a formal defence of a cause"

pro·found adj. "pro·found·er, pro·found·est 1. Situated at, extending to, or coming from a great depth; deep. 2. Coming as if from the depths of one's being: profound contempt. 3. Thoroughgoing; far-reaching: profound social changes. 4. Penetrating beyond what is superficial or obvious: a profound insight. 5. Unqualified; absolute: a profound silence. showing or needing great knowledge: a profound knowledge of Greek literature 2. strongly felt; intense: profound relief 3. extensive: profound changes 4. situated at or having a great depth [Latin profundus deep]"

why did i say, if we don't have fingers, we can do nothing? i am referring fingers as the instrument of putting our words in written form. fingers represent our mouth, tongue, lips, teeth and language to speak by typing lines of words. we can easily criticize someone by the words they say, but before we do it, let them explain. Dr. Jose Rizal weapon against the Spaniard was his pen. Nowadays, fingers represent as pen. With fingers and keyboards, you can make a difference.

My feedback to some insiders: I believe Blubinginone has a lot of potential within this person's identity. Lengradwilson and the rest of bloggers have their own ways that I also admire. Some of them are professional photographers I have met once and who know very well the screen shot and contrast. They see pictures that describe to them in so many words. I say it because that is what I feel and think. Have you friends can see or comprehend clearly the words spoken of every person? He or She is known by his or her expressions and it is almost as personally talking to a person on one-on-one or face-to-face conversation.

I have shared to you the two words that have become my favorite. The apologist and profound. It is suppose to be read as a-po-lo-gist not a-pol-o-gist. You may be interested or not but these two words have caught my attention because of my web search for Rick Warren who wrote the purpose driven book that sold millions around the world in different languages and made him wealthy.

We can use all the thoughts and ways to be good to excellent Pinoy Teachers by starting at one person and next. We don't compete but we are doing something to make it complete.

Gee, I'm flattered.  Thanks anyway, ajarn ph.

BUT, they all say flattery is a tool of deceit.  Are you deceiving me? (ngek!)  Kiss Kiss Kiss

I just don't have the potential.  I GOT THE WITS, a great one!

(Pinuri na nga, nagyabang pa.....he he he.  Ciencia na because....)

I AM BLUBINGINONE and I am legend!

Cheers!

it has been said or written in words or by common sense to give a little help, a little praise or complement, contribute a little, smile a little, and everyone can do or share something little by little.

Nowadays, the Pinoy Teachers must be getting ready to start school on, before or after 20 of May. Some Maestros or Masters are still searching and surfing or looking for opportunity to get in a new job and others expect to renew contract.

There are newbies or beginners at siampinoy insiders, they may be newcomers or old-timers. The newcomers must have arrived by now or a few days or weeks, even a few months is still consider as newcomers. I will consider you as old-timers who have stayed in the land of smiles, Thailand for a few years to three decades. I am an old-timer and consider myself as a pioneer in "gone by the wind" agency.

Tips or words I can share at hectic or haste of time: Do not panic. Take your first step on priority one. Say, you want to find a school or agency to apply for a work, take the full-time or part-time teaching job. Dress well, have a new haircut or hairdo, men must shave well. Men must wear neckties and long sleeves, all must not wear jeans and women must wear blouse and skirt. It will be wonderful if Pinoy Teachers who are women to dress up like flight attendants or office attire.

What is it in your head? What are you thinking? It can be a good contribution to Pinoy Teachers - for your information only.

Some Pinoy or People may or will believe to gossip, lies or scam. Someone will say the positive and negative sides, then they become gullible (one who can be easily cheated or deceived) person. It is because of money, travel for free, a trick to become instantly rich or whatsoever. Be very careful. Think well and do not try to risk at some kind of adventure that you are not sure.

If we have a work, we can earn money and support ourselves and or the family. If you have a family and no money, you need a work or job to support yourself or the family. Now, you can easily answer the question. Which is your first priority work or family? Others may don't have the same answers.

If you want to refresh your mind at something else that is not so serious, I recommend you to read hundreds of pages of hilarity, very short exchange of siampinoy insiders that can make you laugh out loud or LOL. Checkout the General Category, Games Forum or try this, "Ban the Person above" http://www.siampinoy.com/forum2/index.php?topic=245.1980

I have my own way of telling you my news and updates, I rather say it, "for your information only". I prefer to say in long form than abbreviate it because some people may not understand some form of short cuts such as NB, BTW, LOL, ASAP, DIY, FYI, M.o.D., PKM220, LDR, etcetera. I recommend you using long form in written style.

It is good to visit SiamPinoy.com to listen, read or share something. I will always remember Master J's words replied to my email, "Post lang da" (Just post or write). It sounds fair and comforting, doesn't it?

Yesterday afternoon, a question came to my attention. A Thai asked, "Why there are many Filipinos coming to Thailand?" My simple answer or reply was, "Filipinos are adventurers, just like the Chinese." So, Filipinos follow the Chinese.

There are unanswered questions and unsolved problems that we may/have left behind. Some people are willing to go back to the past to mend the broken hearts or mend their clothes. To mend, yes - to heal or restore. If you miss someone far away, I recommend this for lovers and more in "Matters of the Heart". The link is about LDR - Long Distance Relationship issue.
