Clydebebe,

First of all, I hope you will be enlightened with my posts which made you sad.  When I saw this thread in the beginning, I was just a bit surprised to know that there are Filipino nannies in Thailand.  I just wondered with whom they were working, rich Thais or whosoever?  Then, later on there was this notion which popped up noting European nannies in Thailand are receiving much more than the Filipino nannies.  That was the time I started to mention that this is another manifestation of Filipinos being discriminated.  Since then, I ended being ignoramus on the reality that there exists another field which Filipinos are engaged with; though I must admit I carried on thinking that this is another Filipino quest on discrimination.

It is good to know that you appeared to bring up a little light on this matter.  Now, you spoke about the standard pay you are receiving.  Is it the standard local Thai salary?  My Thai co-teachers are receiving not more than 7,000 baht per month and, if you do as well, I don’t have any qualms about it – except I consider it so meager and bit stretched out a reason to work abroad.  But, of course, I never discounted the fact that our country is in dismal failure to alleviate the lives of the majority, thus I would like to stress that I have never looked down on Filipino nannies in Thailand.  I believe you have misconstrued my point of view.

I just hoped and prayed that Filipinos in this field may be freed of being discriminated, simply because it wouldn’t be really good for all of us - as it would appear that we are the most discriminated workers in Thailand.  But then again, I am sure that sooner, not later, we will prove our worth as what some Filipinos especially teachers have started to experience.  And, just like in other countries where Filipino labor abounds, we will be considered as high-class employees and that would include Filipino nannies in Thailand.

This is what I am saying, Clydebebe.  SP needs a direct information from a Filipino nanny regarding this matter.  Now, that you are here, I am just glad that you are enlightening us.  Your information is really critical.  In fact, I would love to hear more about the names you have dropped like Mr. Mike and Lela Aukes.  Are they famous personalities in Thailand?  If this is the case, it is an upliftment of sort for Filipino nannies in Thailand because famous people trust them.

I appreciate if you could give more information.  Good luck!

I supposed this issue should be discussed in the "Work Discussion Forum".

The "Full-time/Part-time Jobs Forum" is supposed to be Job Wanted. It is misleading, guests and members think there is job available for nanny or caregivers.

Anyway, Thais can do the same jobs and some of them are receiving a salary from 5-10+.
