Everyone,

Following the success of the recently concluded Filipino Teacher's Conference in Chiang Mai last February 23, 2008, the ACT (Association of Cordillerans in Thailand), the FFC (Filipinos and Friends in Chiang Rai), the FBFT (Federation of Boholanos and Friends in Thailand) and the Siam Pinoy community are gearing up for the next Filipino Teacher's Conference.

Venue: Ruamrudee International School, E401
          42 Moo 4 Ramkhamhaeng 184, Minburi
Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Date: March 16, 2008 (Sunday)
Title: "Empowering the Community of Filipino Educators in Thailand through Renewed Commitment,Courage and Competence"

This invitation is open to all teachers, may you be teaching in a private, government or international school, those working under language centers, or hired off agencies, those working as English language teachers in corporations or private institutions.

Though we are focusing on the teachers in Bangkok, we have participants coming from Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Samut Songkhram, and neighboring provinces such as Nonthaburi.

All we ask is that you tell us ahead of time if you are coming, so we can make a proper head count for the printed materials we will use at the conference, as well as food for our morning and afternoon snacks and lunch.

The objectives of the conference are as follows:

1. Discuss the pressing issues on employment and classroom instruction faced by Filipino educators in their present work area.

2. Come up with a resolution of the concerns and issues related to the foreign teaching industry.

3.Share effective teaching strategies and resources, desirable school management relations, and other valuable information to enhance the Filipino educator's community.

BE THE DIFFERENCE!

For details, keep coming back to this thread, or contact any of the facilitators: Erick, Lorna, Madam H, Flexi, and Master J.

We'll post the conference program of activities and email soon.

SEE YOU THERE!

Madam H, I will meet the Boholanos tomorrow and we will talk about this matter. I have told the Filipinos here in Samutsongkhram but they said there's a conflict in their schedule for they might hold a seminar for Thai teachers in the province and the others did not confirm wether they can come or not.

Anyway, I will talk to them again and there's a possibility that they can attend and I can't even though I really want. March 16 is the graduation of my sister in the Philippines and my family is expecting me to come. I haven't confirmed my flight yet but possibly it would be before March 16. Probably, I would be in the Philippines for three weeks or less.

Madam H, it's an 11th hour notice and an 11th hour decision since I also got an 11th hour confirmation from my school regarding my free round trip ticket. They just told me this morning that I can get the money today. WHATTA!!!! grrrrrrrr.... I never talked and expected about it anymore... Madam H, I will do my best to help while I am here.

That's great news about the ticket!

No worries about the conflict in schedule. Because of the distance, we have actually considered visiting you guys there before the 16th. Isn't that more good news?let's talk about that tomorrow. Sent you PM. 'Will wait for your reply.

IF your attitude is not right, then even if you are surrounded by good friends and the best facilities, you cannot be happy. This is why mental attitude is more important than external conditions. Despite this, it seems to me that many people are more concerned about their external conditions and neglect the inner attitude of mind. I suggest that we should pay more attention to our inner qualities ( quoted from the meditations on happiness Dalai Lama Daily Advice)

Here is my email address: augt25@yahoo.com

We DEFINITELY want many participants especially if they are from DIFFERENT schools in Thailand.  But if there's a group of 15 or more who are interested to join the conference, we SUGGEST that we ( facilitators/organizers) GO to your place  instead and have the conference in your school DISTRICT (province/city).

Meanwhile, we are having a conference with the Assoc. of Cordillerans in Thailand and hopefully with the Federation of Boholanos and Friends in Thailand BEFORE or AFTER MARCH 16! We will post the schedules soon! We think that this is one of the best practical ways to get more ideas/information from our fellow teachers.

So the MARCH 16 conference is  for those INDIVIDUALS who came from DIFFERENT schools in Bangkok or in nearby areas.

To those who are interested, please CONFIRM your attendance as soon as possible.  NO REGISTRATION FEE! Lunch and snack will be served!

You can post your confirmation here or you can email me at augt25@yahoo.com

Thank you very much!

 Cheesy

ilang po ang maximum number of participants

We were targeting only about 30-40 coz we had a very productive one with a small group in Chiang Mai. But if more people would like to attend, no sweat, just let us know in advance please.

But like Erick said, if you have a group of maybe 15+, we would rather go to your place, instead of just a few of you coming to the conference. We already made commitments to two groups, 1 in Nonthaburi and another in Chiang Mai in May and June respectively. Other places are in negotiation in terms of dates.

Good morning!

Well, there are other VENUES where we could discuss the issue brought about by the others concerning "organizations"! (I might open a thread about it) Cheesy

Meanwhile, let's focus on the topic! Cheesy

Wow, guys! This is nice.  I will bring at least 2 teachers.  I hope more will come, even if most of them are going back home.

I am very interested to organize another conference in our province or in another province like Ratchaburi where there are plenty of Filipinos. I cannot attend the conference on March 16 so I will do my best that we can have our own conference either in our province or with the FBFT community. This would be my task as soon as I return from the Philippines. Madam H, I want to talk to you soon in April. Erick, if you're in Bangkok on April, I hope to meet you too.

Smiley God bless everyone!
