First Meet Up, 30 Old and New

Saturday, July 14, 2007 is a day that will go down in Siam Pinoy history books as we held our first ever meet up with a few Filipinos and half-Thai, half-Filipinos in Thailand at Shamrock Pub in Khao San Road. Around 30 new and old friends showed up, simply to enjoy a few drinks and to bask in the deafening sound of pure rock music dished out by the band.

Friends, both old and new, started trickling in around 9.30 PM. It was great seeing new faces and trying to remember lots of new names as the group started growing. A few old friends also brought along new ones, and that only added to all the night’s excitement!

People just mingled about at first. A few played billiards, some tasted their first Shamrock meal and of course, the cameras were just flashing everywhere. So expect to have plenty of photos in our gallery in a short while. That will give those who were not able to make it at the meet up to see and imagine what it must have been like. But rest assured, for those who were not there this Saturday, we’ll definitely have more of that happening, especially since it proved to be successful and lots of fun!

At 10:45, came time to don on dancing shoes and so many of us parked ourselves right in front of the band so we get plenty of room to head bang to the sounds of Metallica, Evanescence, Aerosmith, Linkin Park, U2, Avril Lavigne, and so much more! And a few of us never quite left the dance floor except to go to the powder room.

It was a night of pure energy, lots of fun and dancing, and an enjoyable way to meet new Siam Pinoys. A few were not ready to put on their dancing shoes yet, and were content to sip their drinks at the tables but we hope they were just saving their energy for the next big one!
