A Philippine passport is a document issued by the Philippine government to its citizens requesting other government to allow Filipinos to pass freely, and in case of need, to give them lawful aid and protection. It remains at all times the property of the Philippine government, as the holder is only its possessor. As long as the passport is valid, it may not be surrendered to any person or entity other than the Philippine government or its representative.

Applicants are required to submit three (3) color ID pictures taken within six months prior to the date of filing the application. Each photo measures 1.77" x 1.37"in size with plain white background and a clear view of the applicant's face. Applicants should be photographed in their decent attire. Eyeglasses should be removed. Wearing of earrings by male applicants is not allowed.

Holders of old brown passports will need to submit documentary proof of his or her full middle name when renewing the said passport.

1. RENEWAL OF PASSPORT ????

?????????????????????????????????????????? The Philippine passport is valid for five (5) years from the date of issuance. A holder of a Philippine passport is encouraged to apply for renewal of the passport at least six months before the expiration of its validity period or when its visa pages are about to run out.

The requirements for renewal of passport are as follows:

a) Application form duly accomplished;

????? b) Valid passport and photocopy of its personal data page and visa page;

Seamen applicants are required to also submit a photocopy of their Seaman's Book and a letter of request or certification of employment from the ship's master ;

c)?Three (3) color ID pictures (example in figure 1);

d) Personal appearance; and,

e) Payment of processing fee. (Subject to change).

2. FIRST APPLICATION BY FILIPINO CHILDREN BORN IN THAILAND

A child born in Thailand to a Filipino father or mother can be considered a Filipino citizen?and may be entitled to a Philippine passport. The requirements for the issuance of a passport to the child are follows:

a. Personal appearance of at least one parent;

b. Application form duly accomplished;

c. Original copy of the Birth Certificate of the child translated into English and duly authenticated by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
d. Three (3) color ID picture of the child. (examples in Figure 1);
e. Original passports of the parents and four (4) photocopies of each passport;
f. Original copy and four (4) photocopies of the marriage contract of the child's parents;
(f.1) If the marriage was solemnized in the Philippines, the marriage contract must be duly authenticated by the National Statistic office (Office of the Civil Registrar General), Office of the President, Malaca?ang (Legal Office),and by the Department of Foreign Affairs (Authentication Division)

(f.2) If the marriage was solemnized under Thai Law, the marriage contract must be accompanied by an English translation duly authenticated by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

g. Report of Birth form duly accomplished (Please refer to item III.1, for requirements); and

h. Payment of processing fee (Please refer to the Schedule of Consular Fees).

3. REPLACEMENT PASSPORT

A passport lost, damaged or destroyed in Thailand can be replaced. The applicant will be required to execute an affidavit explaining the circumstances under which such loss, damage or destruction of the passport occurred. A15-day waiting period commencing on the date of acceptance of the application is enforced to allow time for verification and possible recovery of lost passport, and for the Department of Foreign Affairs to notify its foreign service posts, concerned government agencies, and the diplomatic or consular corps about the cancellation of the passport reported lost and damaged or destroyed.

The requirements for the application for replacement passports are as follows:

a. Affidavit of Loss or Destruction duly notarized;

In case of lost passport, original copy and photocopy of the Thai Police Report with English translation are also required.

b. Application form duly accomplished.

c. Three (3) color ID pictures (examples in Figure 1);

d. Payment of processing fee (Please refer to the schedule of Consular Fees); and,

e. Fifteen-day waiting period for lost passport.
